I know that this probably seems like an outrageous number, but believe me it is true, and this is most likely on the low end, since this is an estimation for a non technical major. At minimum a book will cost $40, and you’ll have 2 to 4 required books for many classes. As far as any book for a science class, business class, or any other technical field, most of your books will run $150 a piece and up. This is of course unfortunate, but it is true, and I can vouch that one of my close friends spent $900 on textbooks during more than one semester.
Given this reality I am sure that you can understand how you will most likely manage to spend so much on textbooks over a 4 year period. Following the advice here, the tricks that I am presenting, I can pretty much guarantee that you’ll save $100-$200 on books each semester, this adds up to over $1500 saved on textbooks during your time in college. Don’t sue me if you don’t save exactly that amount but the idea is that you save money that you can therefore spend elsewhere. Additionally, if you are paying for books with money that you are getting from your student loans you must calculate the interest that you are paying and add it to the total of what you saved.
